International cooperation between governments, whether at the subnational or national level, is a practice that has become increasingly frequent. However, there are still insufficient instruments to guide and evaluate cooperation. Often, projects are dependent on the previous experiences of partners what can undermine projects optimization, affecting the achievement of long-term results. Situations such as technical visits unaccompanied by institutional registration and the weakening of cooperation due to change in government are a commonplace.
The proposal of the workshop “Policy Diffusion and Development Cooperation: Dialogues between academia and practitioners” address the need to collectively think, discuss and systematize a set of guidelines for future projects. By bringing together academic scholars and practitioners from international organizations, national and sub-national governmental bodies, NGOs and think-tanks, as well as civil society, the purpose of this workshop is to shed light to some dilemmas faced by policy diffusion and development cooperation practices. This workshop is part of the reflection proposed by the International Conference on Policy Diffusion and Development Cooperation to be held on May 16-19, 2018, in São Paulo.
